We tested COAST 1 x AA Zithion-X batteries along with COAST Constant Current 1 x AA, and COAST NiMH 1 x AA batteries in a COAST HX5 Flashlight. The COAST Zithion-X batteries had a runtime of 6 hours and 16 minutes. The COAST Constant Current batteries had a runtime of 1 hour and 20 minutes. The COAST NiMH batteries had a runtime of 4 hours and 29 minutes.
COAST^® internal testing versus COAST^® branded batteries.  In every product test we conducted, the COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA battery outperformed COAST^® constant current lithium AA batteries in terms of runtime performance.  When testing batteries in the COAST^® PM200 work light using 3 x AA batteries, COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA batteries had an average runtime of 8 hours and 59 minutes.  On the same PM200 work light, COAST^® constant current AA batteries had an average runtime of 2 hours and 22 minutes and COAST^® NiMH AA had an average runtime of 5 hours and 30 minutes.   When testing batteries in the COAST^® EAL13 lantern using 4 x AA batteries, COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA batteries had an average runtime of 4 hours and 46 minutes.  On the same EAL13 lantern, NiMH AA batteries from COAST^® had an average runtime of 3 hours and 9 minutes.
We tested COAST^® 3 x AAA Zithion-X^® batteries and COAST^® Constant Current 3 x AAA batteries in a COAST^® FL75R. At the 45 second mark of testing, the headlamp containing COAST^® Constant Current batteries began to flicker, with drastic lumen fluctuation visible. The COAST^® Zithion-X^® batteries showed no flickering and continued to run for 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Based on multiple internal tests on COAST^® Zithion-X^® batteries, the average time to a full charge was under 2 hours and 30 minutes on the COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA batteries and under 1 hour and 15 minutes on the COAST^® Zithion-X^® AAA batteries.
Alkaline batteries generally are not intended to be rechargeable and are intended for a single use.  COAST^® Zithion-X^® batteries can be charged over 1,000 times based on internal COAST^® testing.  In the COAST G22 flashlight, using 1 x AA battery, COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA batteries had an average runtime of 2 hours and 32 minutes.  On the same G22 flashlight, a constant current lithium AA battery from COAST^® had an average runtime of 24 minutes, meaning one of our constant current lithium batteries would need to be charged 6 more times than one single COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA battery.  In the G450, using 6 x AA batteries COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA batteries had an average runtime of 7 hours and 53 minutes.  On the same G450 flashlight, NiMH AA batteries from COAST^® had an average runtime of 4 hours and 14 minutes, meaning our NiMH batteries would need to be charged twice when compared to COAST^® Zithion-X^® AA batteries.
